Hahaha, you chuckle knowingly. Cue the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Internationale">Internationale</a>. Right?</p>
<p>Wrong. Because Comrade Food is made in Taiwan.</p>
<p>&#8220;What&#8230;?&#8221; You say.</p>
<p>Look, on the jar it says it&#8217;s made in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taizhong">Taizhong City</a>. (It&#8217;s hard to see in this blurry photo, but there it is.) Now, Taizhong is hardly known to be a hotbed of camaraderie. But then again, &#8220;comrade&#8221; means <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comrade">something else</a> on the renegade island, namely, &#8220;gay&#8221;. Well, whatever. In the company of &#8220;Darkie/Darlie&#8221; brand toothpaste, also sold in Taiwan (look it up), I must say branding with Comrade Food is nothing unusual.</p>
